For Maren Boedeker, painting is a materialized thinking process, a visualization of an inner conversation inscribed on the canvas.

Her source of inspiration is the diversity of life: people, encounters, incidents, nature, landscapes, atmospheres, colours, sounds, textures and the materiality of painting itself. She uses a wide spectrum of tools, media and experimental techniques to create a complex visual language. These lively constructs do not deliver a concrete depiction of visual reality but capture physical experience, interlacing memory and perception. It is up to the viewer to decipher and interpret and to form his or her own viewpoint.
